MkVI Shots from today..
« on: December 11, 2008, 07:30:01 pm »
Was at my local dealer today getting some bits and the salesman I know there asked if I fancied a peek at the new MkVI that they had in the valet bay ready for the showroom.. Thought my as well have a quick butchers
Now ignoring the fact that it is a 2.0TDI and still has the transport blocks in as it's sitting silly high, I didn't think it'd looked to bad..

The interior is fantastic IMO and is a real step up from the MkV. Really looking forward to seeing the new GTI in March. Also has a few new features, including parking camera in the rear VW badge, all colour coded bumpers, and rear washer jet is in the spoiler brake light . Along with a few other bits..
Anyway, thought i'd share the pics to see what you boys think? (Camera phone though i'm afraid )

Totally agree.. Would never buy the first GTI, as you'd only be livid 12 months down the road when they bring out a K04 version..

I really do like it! The interior is a massive improvement over the MKV diesel and the looks will grow on me like the MKV's did. When the 'hot' GTI comes out whether it be GTI-R or whatever they are gonna call it I think I will definately be having one  :happy2:

From the previous pics of the mk6 that I've seen, the dash certainly looks smarter.

Also looks remarkably similar to the 'rocco.

Still love the rear lights though.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I guess they had to get the interior quality right this time, apart from a few niggles like the steering rack the Mk5 has been spot on, only the Peskarus rattles and interior quality stop it from being perfect. and touch wood i have not got a single rattle yet apart from the wallet.  :happy2:

I'm not sure if there is an option to have the cluster in a choice of colours - if not it's a real shame to see the blue and red bow out

Annoyingly I was hoping the MKVI wasn't going to grow on me... it is which means I bound to fork out for one when the GTi revision 2 appears... in a coupld of years or so...

I'm keeping my MKV though we are a couple!!  :signLOL: :driver:

Liking the 'uber' black interior. Much prefer that to the grey of the MKV. Not too keen on the numbers on the dials all being horizontal though compared to going around the dial.

Were the stereo controls (or whatever is on the steering wheel) standard fit do you know?

Exterior wise... meh... but I'm more than likely to be won over seeing it in real life.

One thing I hadn't noticed before was the speedo. Notice how it now goes up in 10mph increments, then after 80mph goes up in 20's...  Not sure if I like that so much. But remember guys that on the MkV the GTI/R32 speedo is different to the other models, so maybe the same on the MkVI
