Intake cleaning by the 'hydrogen method'

Some of you may remember this thread from a couple of weeks ago.

So to keep you up to date...

I accepted the offer of a free clean and subsequently have been in contact with Lee. We have arranged for the process to be carried out next Friday. All seems fine so far.
It's a drive up to Stevenage so I'll have a before and after drive, which, if it has the desired result I should feel.
I should be getting before and after emissions readings too.
I haven't been able to get a 'lookie scope' for visual results yet, but we'll see. ( no pun intended!).

so I read through the link and I must have missed some info......

whats this company called?
have we got any back to back readings as this Lee stated he has?
Is this a mobile service or do they have a unit?

A camera is the only surefire way to assess effectiveness of cleaning. Dyno readings may show no difference at all (assuming that's what you meant).
I noticed when mine were cleaned manually but it was slight. Ideally this should be considered as an exercise in maintaining efficiency rather than adding power.  :happy2:

So next stage in the process ...
Took the car to Duncan's in Byfleet (unashamed plug for one of the nicest indie garages around!) for a' pre clean' emissions check today.

Figures for Fast Idle Test were:

CO % Vol        =  0.004
HC ppm vol     = 0
Lambda          = 1.000

Natural Idle  Test

CO % vol       = 0.003

I'll be going back for a comparison as soon as I can after the clean.

I'll post any other findings as soon as I have them ......... :happy2:

I had a manual clean of the valves and a few weeks later I got these figures at the MOT, 42,000 miles on the clock.

FAST IDLE
CO - 0.08%
HC - 16ppm
Lambda - 0.999

NATURAL IDLE
CO - 0.03

Previous MOT @ 36.5k miles and also before stage 2 & stage 2+ upgrade results were:
FAST IDLE
CO - 0.01%
HC - 39PPM
Lambda - 1.002

NATURAL IDLE
CO - 0.01

Not sure that there's much value in these figures as they pre-date extensive tuning work, but here they are all the same.

Just in case it's useful  :happy2: Mine is stage 2+ with an APR pump, in case it makes any difference to anything.

*Corrected Lambda reading and added mileage.

Did you have a before test for comparison?
Did you notice any difference afterwards - performance, fuel consumption, idle etc?

BTW
Interesting you got 0.030 on the Lambda and passed the MOT - the MOT sheet I have says Min Limit 0.970!

I shall double check the Lamda reading this evening in case it's my mistake. It said 'pass' against the test but that part of the print out is quite busy with text.
