Depends where you're driving, but think you should be getting upwards of 30 overall really.

Maybe high 20's around town and mid-high 30's on the motorway.

As above depends on driving, short journeys use more fuel, manuals are less economic than dsg, has it been remaped? If it hasn't been maped well then could cause low mpg.

I replaced the pcv on my ed 30 and it now does 32mpg (27mpg before)around town all day long and ive had 41mpg on motorway and mine is a manual so i would see if yours is working ok first.

It depends entirely on the type of driving you do and how the car is driven. My tank average is around 20-22MPG if i drive only around town, which is always in traffic, speeds bumps everywhere, short journeys etc. I know my car is running faultlessly too, no PCV issues, boost leaks or anything like that - all down to type of journey and manner of driving  :driver:

On the motorways it'll easily average high 30's and i once managed 45mpg being incredibly careful on a 60 mile round trip, door to door too, not just reset once up to motorway speeds.

Check the obvious things first, binding brakes, tyre pressures etc. Adjusting your driving style would have the biggest influence.

As above it completely depends on how you drive. Around town I normally get around 25-29 mpg but I have just done a round trip to London from Warrington and I managed to get 42mpg and about 450 miles to a full tank

I know!! I was amazed with it! It was a lot of steady driving there and back but it was all worth it as I did it there and back on one tank of fuel

Best I ever managed was 320 miles to a tank normally about 260, my journeys are 1.2 miles 4 times a day to work and back (I go home at lunch) and the rest is me enjoying the car.

Mine has just returned 360 on the last tank, standard 2007 Gti, mixed driving bit of dual carriageway and town etc, aircon on quite a bit too and minor traffic here and there, works out at about 32mpg
Recent full service, new tyres and Dv replaced
