glove box noise
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:52:17 pm »
So.. I have a VERY annoying tapping noise originating from what sounds like the glovebox and its driving me crazy :rolleye:. I'm guessing it something to do with the climate control as it seems to be constant when its cold outside or if i have to the heater on.

Anybody had this problem or anybody know what it could be? I think I read somewhere it could be belts slipping on a motor, not sure how accurate that is.

Something sticking and trying to open perhaps? You can reset the climate control flaps and see if that helps.

It cycles through the various fan flaps/motors checking to see if they're all working correctly. One of my vents didn't seem to be blowing much air out in comparison to the others and the reset cured it.

Just done the reset procedure and as it runs you can definitely hear a vent behind the dash on the passenger side struggling to open and as the procedure finishes it makes the same noise on closing and then you get the ticking noise. Not really sure what to do now ?

Might have to remove the glovebox to see what's going on. This may come in handy:-

Video is for left hand drive cars but gives you an idea of what's involved.

I had that noise, the reset didn't help.  I traced it to one of the recirculation flap motors. Replaced and all was ok.
