Intercooler Inlet Hose
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:02:21 pm »
Hey Guys

I have a leak coming from a connection (Drivers side Intercooler hose) and its probably the seal...

Whats the score with removing and installing the metal clips? Are they reusable?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks - Is it a screw driver job to lift the clip or is there something that needs pressing in to release?

I just used a screwdriver to get mine out. I suspect your problem is a perished O ring that you can get from your dealer. For the gti this pic is valid.

Hi,
Did you manage to fix this? As mine is also leaking.
Also did you have any whistling noises?
Thanks

Hi

Yes I replaced it, I also bought a new clip for the pipe but the one I had was ok so I reused it.

The seal I removed was in better condition than I had thought it would be. I removed the pipe and there was very little residue left, so it must have been leaking much more some time ago. I put this down to changing the PCV to the latest revision a while back.

If you are going to do this yourself I would suggest you do not remove the clip completely from the pipe unless it is rusty/broken...I did this and it added time to the job as you can't see one side of the pipe where the clip slots in.

Do you mean whistling noises from this particular connection?

Same problem here, how are the clips removed without taking them off the pipe? Anyone know the part number for the other side o-ring?
