I've just driven to Wales and back and done 300 miles on a full tank of fuel , I was doing 100 mph most of the way (when I could ) , and I got an average of 28 mpg . I'm stage 2 tuned and I was wondering how that compares to others mpg .
I drove to England and back last week and got 37 mpg doing the speed limit!
If you got that , that's very good . I've never seen a gti with mpg that high.
That's easily achievable, i got more than that in my Leon (same TFSI engine as the Golf) on a trip across Europe, including standstill on the M25, the waiting/queuing at the ferry port and the 80mph speed limits on the continent and all of the local road and town driving inbetween.
I would expect low 30’s / high 20’s when travelling at a speed close to or in excess of 3 figures, and on the flipside, 40-45MPG is achievable on a hypermiling (economy) run. I’ve managed 45mpg door to door on a 60 mile round trip to a nearby town once, but it was the most boring drive ever. Satisfied my curiosity and never to be repeated!
At the end of the day there are too many variables to compare accurately, the driver and driving style being the biggest influence
