Good or bad mpg ??
« on: September 21, 2014, 08:52:31 pm »
I've just driven to Wales and back and done 300 miles on a full tank of fuel , I was doing 100 mph most of the way (when I could ) , and I got an average of 28 mpg . I'm stage 2 tuned and I was wondering how that compares to others mpg .

Seems about right, 300 miles to a tank with that level of tune is average.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

As above sounds about right, quite good actually.

Personally I would not publically state that you were exceeding the national speed limits on an open forum. One of our former members got a driving ban for posting a clip of him racing on the road that got the Police interested and lead to a conviction.

Thats total bs. Maybe we should have a gated section where we can say what the F*ck we like. Entry on request only after being vetted.

If you got that , that's very good . I've never seen a gti with mpg that high.

That's easily achievable, i got more than that in my Leon (same TFSI engine as the Golf) on a trip across Europe, including standstill on the M25, the waiting/queuing at the ferry port and the 80mph speed limits on the continent and all of the local road and town driving inbetween.

I would expect low 30’s / high 20’s when travelling at a speed close to or in excess of 3 figures, and on the flipside, 40-45MPG is achievable on a hypermiling (economy) run. I’ve managed 45mpg door to door on a 60 mile round trip to a nearby town once, but it was the most boring drive ever. Satisfied my curiosity and never to be repeated!

At the end of the day there are too many variables to compare accurately, the driver and driving style being the biggest influence

The circumstances were different, it was a video for a start (probably grassed by someone) but the prosecution could use posts as evidence in court to demonstrate certain behavior on the road. It would be up to the jury to decide if this was relevant.

Sometimes a bit of ambiguity helps.
