Accessing the MFD on highline clocks without a MFSW?
« on: September 22, 2014, 09:33:33 pm »
I had highline clocks fitted recently, I believe they end in 972 from memory. I don't have a MFSW, but it is something I will get in the future, preferably a MK6 one

But is there a way to access the other menus with the stalk? I can obviously toggle between average MPG, miles left inb tank etc with the up down button, and I've tried holding them down to see if that does anything but no luck.

Thanks!  :happy2:

Yes you can...

You either press and either the up or down button or press the button underneath the stalk (set up). I can't remember which but its the ssme set up i had on my old TDI.

I just tried all of that and had no luck. I tried just a simple press, I also tried a press and hold. Here is a quick video demonstrating:

Very odd. It was holding the up or downbutton on the end that did it.
Maybe your cluster PN is wrong for use with indicator stalk

I've had highline clocks fitted as standard and only ever switched between average MPG, range ect. I'm going to have a play tonight and see, as I don't (nor ever have had) a multifunction steering wheel...

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

That's what I thought I had read previously! Oh well it's no big deal really as I will one day get a mk6 mfsw.
Do you think changing my stalk would fix the problem?

Let me know if you can access it :)

What are the other menus I should be able to access and how do I do it? Sorry for the very stupid question, never come across this before now.

Need to consult the hand book and work out how to get to these menus... I'm going to hold various buttons and see what happens.

Yeah, mine worked by just pressing on one of the end buttons on the stalk (like you did in your video). Does it need setting up with VCDS then if your retro fit?

I'm glad yours is ok! Enjoy your new features haha. Yeah it needs coding, it was coded correctly but someone but as mentioned earlier on, my stalk isn't the correct [air with the clocks.

Hi George,

Sorry to bring this ancient thread back up, but wondering if you found a solution to this issue? I'm having the exact same issue, I recently upgraded from midline to 972 Highline clocks, I don't have mfsw and can't access mfd via my stalk driving me insane.
