Urgent help please!
« on: September 24, 2014, 06:01:32 pm »
I hear a creak in my suspension when I turn my car

I replaced the cv boot on passenger side last week and checked the suspension and all is fine

Today in doing the driver side and the only things that's out of place is this tiny bit of rust on the top of the coil spring.

Could this be causing the noise?

My wishbone squeaks a bit when going up and down but that wouldn't make noise when turning right?

Try wrapping another bit of plastic or rubber round it and see if it goes away

If my shock absorbers were on the way out would they cause the springs to take up more slack causing noise?

have you checked top mounts?

I did! Checked both. Replaced driver side today even though there was little damage to them.

Will check now if the sound is still there

Huh?
I meant that the bit of tiny rust on a spring would not cause a squeak.

We've had literally no information regarding what kind of creak it is or more importantly where it sounds like it's coming from.
It could be LITEARALLY anything.

Dry bushes or linkages (bearing in mind there are roll bar bushes, wishbone bushes (front and rear), drop links, ball joints etc)
Worn bushes or linkages
Subframe shifting
Worn steering rack
Small mouse

sorry dude, thought you meant the top mounts would of had nothing to do with it, obviously there is so much that could be causing this and yeah your right... there isn't loads of info on the issue.

Luke - can you explain more about your issue if you still require advice from people on here?

thanks.

Ok so here's exactly what's happening

The noise is like a creaking. Similarly to a rusty door but heavier.
Only happens when I turn the wheel left and right.
Wouldn't hear it when driving at speed.
Just when making parking manoeuvres.
I checked and replaced the top mounts and bearings on driver and passenger side.
The coils are fine.
The shocks aren't great but not a culprit.
The noise is coming from the front of the car. Couldn't say if it's left or right side.

My wishbone is a bit squeaky going up and down but that's not the house I'm hearing.

Anybody any thoughts?

I've come across a dry joint on the antiroll bar links before that creak , why not try and disconnect these and try it again,

What do you mean by disconnect and try again?

Disconnect the anti roll bar. Grease up and then try?
