Generally speaking. They are. As they are pretty much counterfeit OBD devices, with hacked versions of VCDS.

That is pretty much the case.

Copied vcds cables are just that. They are effectively stealing someone else's intellectual property.

The cost of a genuine cable isn't that bad when you consider that thousands of hours it takes to reverse engineer the information thst the ECU is outputting. Not to mention the lifetime free updates..... Free support etc etc etc

Now, you may think that it shouldn't be and we should all buy knockoff stuff - that's your lookout. Much like those hoovering up cheap parts almost certainly coming from stripped stolen cars. Closing your eyes and sticking your fingers in your ears doesn't make it ok, ignorance is no defence.

just to clarify I wasn't agreeing with the copied vccds being ok, what I was trying to say is that there's a hell of a lot of copied/ knocked of parts on here that gets over looked, my point was if it's good for one then surely it's good for all.

what's the point, how would anyone ever prove it? just couldn't see why the op was being singled out? your own staff mentioned it was fine to have the copy the other day!

The OP is not being singled out. I am just stating the facts of something that we will not allow to be discussed openly on here. It would be the same if someone was selling REVO/APR/R-tech copied maps for 50 quid a pop....

We had a situation a few months ago where a certain tuning companies name was mentioned not in the best light, and we were threatened with legal action.

So by all means setup your own forum called "www.fakevagpartsandvcdsleads.co.uk"   and then you can be responsible for its content.

Surely if someone had a bad experience with a tuning company they have every right to post their thoughts here.

Or you could just contact a person who is local to you, with a genuine version of vcds, ask them nicely if they can code / do whatever you want and see what they say.

Iv done a few bits for people and dont actually ask for any money as its often a quick 5/10nin job!
