Can anyone recommend medium length breaker bar
« on: September 27, 2014, 08:06:31 pm »
I'm looking for a medium length breaker bar for the more delicate bolts that my 600mm bar will break and my standard ratchet wont budge. Preferably 1/2 inch drive.

I already have that one its great. I need something smaller that will hopefully stop me snapping everything.

Yeah it's just right, I use Halfords Pro torque wrenches but my breaker bars are Snap-On/Bluepoint

Resurrecting an old thread. I purchased the Snap On breaker bar recommended by @Golf_GT_TDI . Its great.

The cheap 24" breaker bar i bought from amazon is starting to crack.

Although the reviews are good i think its  :booty:
Luckily i managed to get 90deg on my drive shaft bolt earlier today without it breaking and smashing me in the face or even worse hitting the car.

Where can i get a 24" Snap On Bluepoint from??

Wow lucky with that breaker looks like it could of let go any moment.

Sealey also do a 3/4" drive 1m breaker that is a better bet for the driveshafts, along with Laser's 3/4" driveshaft impact socket it gets the job done but 3/4" is not needed otherwise on the car.

The Snap-On 1/2" drive 24" breaker bar goes by part number SHBB24 and there is one on eBay at the moment...

 :happy2:

EDIT: The Sealey 1/2" is also available in the Platinum Series version:

Do you think the snap on or sealey 1/2" bar can handle the drive shaft bolts?

70 NM is the torque setting for the CV joint bolts so both those power bars should handle that easily.
Snap on is the better bet since they change it if it developed any defects as your previous bar from Amazon.

Its the main drive shaft bolt that does the damage 70nm plus 90 deg

I only torque item 2 to 70NM in two stages - where did the plus 90 come from?

The main bolt (item 2) is 70 Nm + quarter turn (90°) ??
