No wonder some people can't get decent fuel economy, lol... here's the tyre pressure for the 18's on Mk5 Golf GTI:

2.6 Bar = 38 PSI
3.2 Bar = 46 PSI

That's weird, my fuel flap says 2,4 instead of 2,6...?

Did it come with 18's from factory?

Think the 17's are 2,4 / 2,4 AND 2,6 / 3,0 with load.

Pretty certain it came with 18's from factory. It's an 06 and the list of codes etc in the boot appears to show it coming with 18's, Xenons etc. Strange.  :rolleye:

It is strange why mine would have the top one (2005 18's Xenon etc. Factory) and yours the bottom, with similar years and spec.

Either way, for the sake of this thread, the lowest amount is 2.4 bar which is just shy of 35 PSI, so the 29/31 PSI tables are wrong; must be a comfy ride though.

Hi All,

According to the Kwik-Fit tyre pressure search, the below table shows what pressure we should inflate our tyres to - do you agree?

Tyre Size    Front (BAR)  Rear (BAR)   Front (PSI)   Rear (PSI)
225/45R17     2.2 BAR       2.0 BAR           31 PSI   29 PSI
225/40R18     2.0 BAR       2.0 BAR           29 PSI   29 PSI

Thanks

I don't agree, I run mine at 38 PSI all round on 225/45/R17 . Chucking the car into corners at the recommended pressures it wonders around meaning more lift off over steer and throttle control, taking the corners slower. I find running at 38 PSI the car more stable and better on fuel saving too (obvious really). My personal preference anyways.

I'm Stage 2 DSG in my Edition 30 so running about 340bhp with full Milltek TBE and i would average about 18mpg at that speed so would only get around 230 miles to a full tank of around £75ish. :sad1:

Gotta pay to play.

Should be around 30 on a cruise though.  If it's 18 on a cruise, something is very wrong.   Who did the map?

Does sound low I agree, but It's a DSG...wouldn't that drink more over a manual?

DSG is more efficient as the computer knows exactly when to change for best consumption. Obviously this doesn't help on a cruise but I highly doubt the extra weight makes any noticeable difference.

Momentum was £1.29 a Litre today, not sure if that's good or bad tbh, as I usually just put a monetary amount in.

It's been 1.31 round my way, it's usually the same price as diesel and v power is usually 5p a litre more
