I don't usually get much grief in mine, except from the few idiots who try it on....

I have kept all mods as subtle as possible for that exact reason. To Joe Bloggs, it could be a 2.0TDI

Yes, all the time!
Weirdly, I get let out more often than expected - mostly by 'man in the van' types, whereas your usual 'exec' or 'bint in 1-series', gives their deadpan, lifeless look, and ignore you.
Have had some great reactions in the ED30 - sadly, mainly from dudes, but it is quite funny at times! Some guys passenger in an open top Z3 did a near on 360 degree head turn to look at the car. I loved the time a gorgeous lady's little lad started pointing at the car as they were walking over a junction - think it was the xenons that got his eye.

Some of the worst are from when peeps expect a 'race' because of the car. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the performance of my car - I will use it to the full, when it is safe, but that is rarely on the public roads.
Nothing compares to driving it on track though...

A 'gentleman' in a van took exception the other day when I went past him on a dual carriageway into town at WOT - I only went to the speed limit (40mph), and then he was on my tail, lights flashing, and then undertook.
He actually gave a friendly wave (with all fingers) when turning off the main road, so really not sure what he was trying to do....

I remember the second day of ownership. Had to drive from Birmingham to southampton. Stayed on inside lane at 60mph but a car would line up alongside me wanting to race. Happened four times I think. Didn't race them. Was only just getting used to driving the machine!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I'm pretty sure the Inter-largos/Burberry Interior is not helping the GTI's image... I like it though  :happy2:

I have noticed some VW camorardary which is nice but yeah being young doesn't help. They see a 20 yo in a fast car and automatically think you've stolen it  :booty:

People tend to drive right on my rear bumper which is rather annoying. Although it is funny when I zoom off and leave them miles behind

i get it all the time.. there are a lot of ring roads around by me and you get some nice motors

i get alot of middle aged chaps in m5's, xkrs and anything pritty much with a big engine who think there the fastest thing on the road.. they seem to look at me with a sniggle as in look at him in his golf boy racer with stickers all over it harnesses and a roll cage lol

i will always tickle the throttle if its safe to do so when they start to overtake in RHL and they always take the bait.. then the screamer opens and they get a huge shock and its always what the hell you got in that after lol! "2.0 mate ;)"

I think that in general the faster the car I'm driving the more relaxed I am, I just like to cruise about.  if I want to sit at the speed limit and some prick is right behind me, I just think go on then try it and I just hope you've got enough power to get past.

I have my stupid moments racing other cars but I won't waste fuel on cars I know will be slow
