Black Edition 30 stg2+ APR
« on: October 03, 2014, 11:08:32 pm »
Had this car a year now and never really bothered having a build thread as the plan was to run it for a few months while we got married etc then sell it on and buy either a b7 rs4 or b8 s4 but after getting a bit of pier pressure from cooper and Chris and becoming rather fond of it I caved in and decided to spend some money.

So after travelling as far as north wales and Glasgow and being let down on both occasions I finally came across this one in Leeds 1 owner from new, full VWSH and never bumped

When I first got it looking a little sorry for its self....

Few day's after....

Had wheels refurbed, new tyres all round, cambelt, big service, coil packs, plugs, dents, new grill, build plaque, dsg service, cv boots, rcd 510 etc

Ran around in it on jbs stg1 map for a few months....

Then decided it needed a bit of noise with the addition of a milltek cat back and so it all began, since then the car had had

Full milltek exhaust inc 3" down pipe/sports cat

Nuespeed intake

Pcv kit

Forge d/v

Forge cooler pipes

Apr hpfp

APR stg2 + software

(Highly recommend Ritchy at automotive solutions)

http://richard-martin.co.uk

S3 brake upgrade

Before...

After...

345mm with ds2500 pads they do the job very well

I've basically gone the Clarkson way of modding a car with the first port of call POWER! The next port of call is chassis it's already had power flex bushes but suspension and walk kit is next and it's getting some stickier tyres on Monday in the mean time I'm just keeping it mint.

Not much of a build thread I know, but now I'm getting into it and plan on keeping it I will take better pics of upcoming mods. This is next to go on....

Today I had the car into the VW main dealer for a full service they scored it green on everything when they carried out a health check! then later in the afternoon me and a friend fitted the Forge front mount intercooler...

The car pulls even more aggressive now!

I also fitted some open grill's...

Cheers coops/nicky!

I am absolutely blown away with how good this car is the wife can potter around in D then I can have some fun in S!

Next up I need to give the chassis some attention.

Cheers for the positive comments. I've just finished a 400 mile trip in the car and I'm absolutely smitten with it!

I find this too. I was driving mine for 8 hours the other day. Still smiling when I got home and still finding excuses to drive the following day.

Great car for eating the miles and still having fun.

Was the Forge FMIC difficult to fit, or just a bolt on job?

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Pretty straight forward, well it looked easy I stood and watched my mate do it all ....I wasn't expecting a lot of difference once fitted but the car is so much more aggressive now!

Cheers I just want to keep it very subtle almost a sleeper.

Here's one or two of my previous cars....

1.8t nut and bolt rebuild mk2....

Gt28 powered GTI

Stg2 vxt

Anyway back to the ed30, gave the car a quick clean today didn't even get the polish out and was impressed with the shine....

I need to sort the suspension next do I go springs, suspension kit or coilovers? Bearing in mind the car is mostly used by my wife and kids.

Nice collection of cars there.

Out of the 2 options, coilovers.

  COILOVERS!!! :happy2:

I'm the mate that did it all.

It's pretty easy, most of the work is getting the front bumper off, probably took about 2 hours in between chatting
