Anyone had these codes?

I went to view a 2010 cupra yesterday (I know not mk5 but still a TFSI)

Everything went good, condition of the car was really good and it drove really well.

But I asked the seller if I could do a VCDS scan on the car and I go the following errors

Isn't the EVAP one the pipes leading to the charcoal filter have perished a bit, worth checking them... also is the car FULL of fuel.
Or perhaps the N80...hmm.

The other is A/C top up required - shame, as all the special offers have ended now from the likes of Halfords Auto Centre and Kwikfit etc.

Yup I'm confused too, found heaps of threads suggesting both but none of them have came back and said what actually fixed the fault.

The carbon canister I could handle but think a replacement n80 might be too expensive.

The car had a half tank when I looked at it but going by the mileage the fault would of been logged a few weeks ago

    Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) faulty/jammed
    Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115) faulty/jammed
    Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Sealing faulty
    Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body leaky/blocked

Perhaps have a look at another car... the A/C fault also might not just be solved with a re-gas either...

I suppose you could highlight the faults and ask him to fix them, then he'd have a sale, but there are plenty of Cupras about.

I looked at all the ones within 100 miles of here and that was the best one on condition.


I said I would get back to him once I researched that the fault but I think I'm going to phone him back and tell him that if he gets the fault fixed before next weekend I will buy it.

iirc the N80 valve isn't too expensive and is an easy DIY. Pity you didn't check the basic setting for it at the time as you would be able to hear if it was clicking or not.

I haven't haggled a price with him yet but it's the cheapest facelift one up here, looked at a few pre facelifts but couldn't live with that dash

My bad I got the N80 valve confused with the N75 valve

Think it's only a £30 part

If i do get the car that's exactly what I will do and hopefully manage to figure out if it's the valve or the canister.

P0441 is a very common code and comes up on the forum quite a bit.

Most people suspect it's from brimming the tank with fuel. Some fuel then gets into the carbon canister which destroys it and gives the fault.

Once it happens there's apparently no going back and you have the code for life. Don't hold me to it but I've yet to see any detrimental affects from the code, only an error that keeps coming back.

When people have catch cans fitted they often remove the carbon canister entirely.

Worst case scenario is replace the hosing and the canister which is a diy but around £100 in parts. Again if you do fix it and brim the tank with fuel it will most likely come back again.

I certainly wouldn't let it affect purchasing the car. Use it as a bargaining chip by all means and try get him to split the cost of parts with you but by no means is it a determining factor!!

I had this code a few week ago. Changed the n80 valve and not had a problem yet.

I had the same code over and over for about 3 weeks. Would clear it and it'd be back within a day.

I stopped brimming the tank and it hasn't come back in 2 months.
