Rain-X
« on: November 22, 2008, 11:26:48 am »
Gonna detail car tomorrow (weather permitting - otherwise I'll just do the wheels, exhaust and interior. There's chocolate covered raisins everywhere!).

Off to get AG fast glass and glass polish for the windows.

I've heard some people like Rain-X to help with keeping the windows clean.

Anyone ever used it?
Suitable for ED30?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I used to use RainX a lot and was always happy with it although it never seemed to last for too long. The other down side is it tends to make the windows 'sticky' when you are cleaning and drying them.  :happy2:

I just bought some, its named g1 Wiper proof glass nano coat. I'm yet to use it on my GTI, just waiting for a dry weekend to give it a try.
Their contact details are

GTECHNIQ LTD
UNIT C HAPPY VALLEY IND ESTATE PRIMROSE HILL KINGS LANGLEY HERTS WD4 8HD ENGLAND
Contact: Robert Earle +44 (0) 192 326 4344 robearle@gtechniq.com

Email Rob, he sorted me out with windscreen treatment, and their c4 cSystem for black plastic trim. I have heard a lot of good reports about their products, from users on Detailing World and reviews. Its not cheap, but just an example, the glass treatment has been proved to last 30,000 miles, and the black trim nano coat makes trim look like new, and lasts 2 years! It even resists multiple washes with neat detergent, washing liquid, and was only affected by repeated washes using a high powered truck wash!

On the back of this thread and a few others - I spoke to Rob and ordered;

G1      ClearVision Glass nanocoat Max Durability      15ml
C4      Never fade plastic trim nanocoat                     15ml
C3      Smart Carnauba (brilliant on interiors too)      500ml      (I want a matt OEM finish on my MKV interior and this is what Rob recommended
P1      Nanoscopic polish                                            500ml      (recommended me this for scratches + carnauba)

Have applied the g1 and waiting for rain..(typical eh!)
will be using the rest as soon as I have the time to apply

Very nice and helpful - I can't wait to see the results
