Long time no update (again!). After some front mount intercooler shenanigans decided it was easier to swap to a Pro Alloy Intercooler Core than try and make the Forge core fit. The MK5 GTI Forge Core will be up for sale soon in the classifieds  :happy2:

I'll spare you the gory details but here's the Pro Alloy Core after being unboxed:

Really impressed with the build on this core and it's pretty light:

Fitting was slightly squiffy but I got there in the end....

Started off getting the Direnza rad mounted up in the butchered 150pd slam panel I'd been working on. This actually worked out better, as I'm able to mount the rad closer to the cowling. Millimetres count and all that! I'll be swapping the fan stack to a slimline version later in the week.

Then spent a fair few hours mounting the Pro Alloy core. This took a bit of fettling and required the crash bar the be notched to get it square. Despite this it's still a good alternative and I'm pleased with the fit.

Then got the bumper and grill offered up. I detect large amounts of win.

Will be taking the whole off again to mod the bumper bar for better airflow and get it sprayed up to prevent corrosion etc.

Next I moved onto the intercooler pipework. Glad to say we've now got bags of room to play with :D

The run from the exit up to the throttle body will need a kink in the pipework looking at it from this angle.

The intercooler inlet may be a little more intricate to create with just silicone pipes and joiners.

The turbo charge outlet both drops and is offset to the right. Ideally I'd say fab up an alloy pipe tag welded straight onto the stock outlet but not sure we've got time to sort that.

Getting there...!

Ordered up the Air intake pipe from our friends at Forge:

And got to work mock fitting:

Ideally I'd like to get it all properly tig welded but that can wait for now.

Also started work on some bling

Prep work for when they're vinyl wrapped.
