Oil Leak VW Jetta 2.0 fsi turbo
« on: October 31, 2014, 04:30:34 pm »
Good Afternoon all,

I have an oil leak on VW Jetta 2.0 FSi Turbo.

I first noticed it on the drive, took the under tray off to reveal oil around the oil filter housing cap. I dropped the the oil from the filter housing then undid the cap carefully using the 36mm socket.

It came off easier, replaced the paper filter and new gasket seal, lubricated and put it back on to 25 nm.

I gave it a run and it's still leaking.

I had a look above the housing and it looks mucky. What possible leaks could be from higher up? Or could it be the plastic cap that may have lost it's thread?

Your help will be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as a gti. Can't see any obvious differences but sure I will get a picture

Hi, had a few where the plastic drain part on the filter cap is worn or not popped back out after draining. Get some pliers and pull the drain valve out to make sure it's sealing. (From memory its orange) give it a good clean and recheck. If its higher up could be leaking from the oil cooler housing seal etc! Cheers

Thanks, I`m now starting to think it could be the oil cooler housing seal. The oil is definitely leaking from that direction.

Evening,

I have found the leak. It's coming from what looks like the oil cooler/hear exchanger gasket?

Does anyone have the OEM part number for it so I can order one ?
