Coolant - How full?

How full is your reservoir with coolant?
I ask because mine currently sits at the black line above the black line which says min (so in other words min line plus about an inch and a half) and i don't know whether it should get a top up to be on the safe side.
I'm guessing that actually having this much coolant above the min line equates to quite a lot of normal driving miles.

I kept mine at the top of those lines but Statllers filled it up to the middle line in the tank.

Min when cold, max when hot.

I was always advised to fill it to just above minimum as it allows for an expansion of the fluid plus allows the pressure inside the system to remain stable. Too little space in the previous means not enough space for the build up of pressure when at high temperatures.

Cheers for the replies fellas and thanks for the explanation th3_f15t.
So my coolant level is absolutely fine which means the 'STOP check coolant levels' message i get from the dash in cold weather is being caused by a dodgy sensor...? Anyone else had this?
cheers

Yeah, most likely a faulty sensor. A fault scan of the ECU will tell you, but nothing wrong with removing the sensor, cleaning the metal prongs and checking the wiring for any obvious damage. Cheapest solution first...
