Ah i see. I assumed that doing the software fix for the battery drain was a straight forward fix, so I didn't need to updste my can gayeway. I didn't realise it would stop certain things working.

It wasn't supposed to upset other parts of your RNS-510 but the fix doesn't work well for everyone. :\

I'll try a soft reset see if that does anything.

If i have to change my canbus, does that lose alterations made through vag com?

I reinstalled the new firmware but I still get the message 'No Medium Available' when pressing the Media button

Hi all newbie to the gang

I wanted to find out if you faced any issues with battery drain after the update. I have a 2006 mk5 1.6FSI  and i haven't yet checked the canbus but ive been reading that theres modified versions to assist with upgrades. Are there any links for updates for maps and modififed firmwares. Ive been on the hunt and i managed to be directed to this page as there was a link for the 4020a update. Been racking my brain over this since i installed the rns into my golf. I cant get access into the software version so im going to take a risk to update it to 2760 then work my way up. Also are there any reasonably priced canbus's which can be programmed on ebay?

I didn't have any battery drain issues, but I did however do the battery drain fix just to be on the safe side.

I have a V10 map disc with cameras if you want it.. as well as a disc for suitable firmware. I jumped straight to the upgrade on a B unit and was fine
