DSG Reset

I have been having some of the issues with DSG box a few others have experienced - jurky gear changes etc but unfortunately due to my mods my dealer and now VW hq uk have  confirmed that they will not cover the warranty work required for a new mechatronics unit.. so not the best news

Anyhow today I did a DSG reset sequence as per the instructions here :

Pretty simple process using vagcom followed by a driving sequence and so far so good has smoothed things up alot not sure how long it will last but fingers crossed.

Worth a try to anyone who is having similar issues  :happy2:

James i know its bringing up old news, but i cant remember the sequence of events with your box.

Did you have any of the symptoms before the Box map and also is it not possible to get the DSG map taken off or cleared then go to another dealer.
I am sure you would have tried this already, i cant remember what the outcome was.

Mine is getting worse and i am worried about getting knocked back by the first dealer i go to and then ending up on there database blocking me from other dealers. I dont have the DSG map by the way just the usual revo engine map.  :happy2:  :scared:

i have no mods but the box is still pretty jerky when selecting 1st and the car is cold, is that normal?

Nope it should be silky smooth, when did it get serviced might just need an oil change or a reset like James is eluding to.   :happy2:

hmmm, it got serviced when i bought it but they didnt do the dsg box, its done 25k and on 2nd service, the dsg is on the 4th isnt it?

sorry to hijack the tread :D


my washer jets seem to have stopped working too grrrr

I had a DSG reset done months back and it has been ok  - think it just gets itself in a tizz??

Mod friendly dealer too, hopefully yours will be fine.

It has occurred since the dsg remap but my problems are very similar to people who have not had their dsg mapped so can't really blame GIAC.

I asked VW dovercourt to look at it when it was in for service I told them the car was modfied as its a bit difficult to lie when you looked under the bonnet but I did not mention the dsg remap. anyhow they confirmed it was the mechatronics unit as been the problem but due to the modifications I have done to my car which have increased the power and put more stress on the gearbox I will not be covered by the warranty.

I complained to VW hq and they came back a week later and said the same thing.. No specific reasons just that.

Not many options really apart from dsg oil change then reset and hope for the best,  or seen a salvaged gti full dsg box on ebay for c£500

Otherwise its £1k+ and fitting for a new mechatronic unit  :sad1:

Silly question but does the GIAC dsg remap work with a Revo Engine remap?.
Wont it work better if you have 2 maps from the same Company??
or are these two companys work on the same Perameters?

Added:

and have you tried the dsg without its remap to see if the operation is smoother??

Wow that makes me very scared. i think i need to head straight to the mod friendliest dealer in the country.

If it helps, the symptoms of mine were:

When cold, it would occasionally take a second to realise I wanted to set off and then lurch forward with a slap through the transmission.
When hot, occasionally it would sit and have a think, leaving you 'dead' for a second if you dropped from 6th-3rd in D, over-riding on the paddles to overtake.

We're talking once, maybe twice a week.

Since reset - neither has happened.

VW in Crewe were extremely helpful and understanding though, I think because I was so upfront with them. Failing that, I have a mate who is a master tech who was going to "sort it"... but he's a long trek away.

I get exactly the same when the box is hot + i get the reverse turbo lag then take off.  :stupid:

How far away is your master tech friend.  :wink:

i got mine from wrexham (same people that own crewe)

im guna ignore it till my 1st service then get the dsg reset

....The DSG remap and ECU remap are totally separate and all they do is respond SMARTLY and dynamically - There's no clash of codes. You can mix GIAC and Revo etc without fear of a catastrophe - Or at least that's what I've been assured.

Funnily enough after my DSG was remapped, any cold jerkiness etc disappeared and my DSG is much smoother than when it was oem mapped.

Sorry to hear of all you guys' problems with DSG although i've had no similar issues with my manual box  :P

As Mr H Hill would say........I love the silky smooth gearchange of the DSG.......I love the feel of changing gears manually.......

But which one is better??.....................
