What years your motor.  Looks like they've changed the plug design slightly then if you pins won't insert.  The plugs sent to you are the latest versions from VAG, I've a draw full.  I've got a couple of older plugs at home I'll have to compare them. 

The connectors I supplied will fit on the old and new coil packs you have but it looks like the there's a possibility the internal pin design has changed and some internal dimensions on the connector to accommodate this new pin.

How do the pins look dimensionally when held against each other.

Options are

1 - Find a couple of older connectors (I'll have a nose around at home)

2 - change your pins for the newer type to accommodate the new connectors (ball ache)

Leave it with me If I've got anything I'll post them FOC for the additional headache it's giving you with all the other work your doing.

Thanks mate yes shes 2005. I Just put the old connector back on took 30 seconds. the part number on the back of my connector is 480 943 724

Will the stealers have the old style connector?

^^^^ thats 4BO 973 724.  £8.22 inc VAT of stealer as stated in @doylebros post earlier.  I can have a look at home for you later now I have a part number. 

Mine are 1JO 973 724 that I sent you.  Right can of worms this one

Its Alive!

Got stuck in today. Put everything back together.

With a few extras.
R8 coil packs and NGK Iridium plugs.

I also deleted the banjo bolt.



She seems to be running sweet only went for a quick drive around the block will update tomorrow.

Thanks mate. Knowing my luck lately the adjuster will fall off tomorrow.
