Fiscon bluetooth music streaming sounds terrible
« on: October 26, 2014, 06:53:54 pm »
Hi,

I've just fitted the Fiscon Basic Plus which I bought from a guy on here. Generally happy with it, but the A2DP music streaming sounds terrible. It sounds like it's being played through some headphones, quiet and tinny. Any reason why this would be?

I've fitted the MDI kit so I can use that with the ipod, but it would be nice to stream Spotify and other things via Bluetooth.

Appreciate  any help.

Thanks,

Dan

Streaming quality via the Fiscon is crap, not much can be done about that as far as I know.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I found out that I have the version 1 (thought I was buying the latest version) which doesn't support stereo. It sounds terrible, I couldn't listen to it. Very disappointed, I'm annoyed I didn't get the version 2 which I thought I was getting.

Don't know whether it's worth seedling it and buying a version 2 or is it not worth the money?

I have had a basic, and a plus v1 & v2 and they all sound crap. However, to me it is a secondary feature and I only ever used it out of curiosity.

Thanks for your replies, very useful.

I don't have text messages on my unit either, I thought the basic plus displayed text messages. Do yours?

Is the genuine VW unit better at streaming music? The reason I ask is that my girlfriend wants to be able to stream Spotify via Bluetooth and control it via the steering wheel. I don't think you can control Spotify when using MDI, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Plus version allows you to control the Fiscon via the stereo as well as MFSW/highline, whereas the non-plus version is just MFSW/highline controllable.

I have no experience of OEM units, sorry.

Yeah, my Fiscon is crap for bluetooth streaming.

No idea what the factory VW one would be like, but the Bluetooth streaming in my Pioneer AVH2500 was fantastic quality.

MDI sounds superb. Just fitted its along an RCD 510 DAB, sound quality is a lot better than the old RCD 500.

Just tested the MDI with Spotify on the iPhone, it works fine, so I'll just use that instead of Bluetooth.
