Interesting features on the MKV Golf

•Climate control system switches into recirculated air mode when reverse is selected and when you activate the wipers to prevent exchaust gas and the smell of the windscreen cleaner from being distributed in the cabin.
•Headlights turn on when you exceed 140km/h.
•Headlights will stay on until the car comes to a complete stop even if the engine is turned off.
•Rear wiper activates automatically when you put the car in reverse and it’s raining.
•Front wipers change position every time you switch off the car to avoid having the blades leaning in the one direction all the time and extending their life. There are 4 positions that they park in.
•At speed the front wipers tuck in to increase aerodynamic efficiency.
•Permanent vertical illumination of the controls via the interior LED lights was the resut of a study with the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany which found found that certain light sources in the interior can increase active safety when driving at night. The eyes can adjust more quickly to changes when switching from the road to the interior. This is especially important with dark headlining like the GTI.

It took me years before I discovered that when you unclip the sun visor and turn it to the side that it is actually extendable if you pull on it! Handy feature sometimes.

I knew a couple of those, but makes you feel like you got your moneys worth when you realise how much effort they put into these cars.

If just unlock the boot with the command and open it, it will self-lock when you close it.

Not 100% sure it's on the MK5 but was on my MK2 Leon which shares the same platform so...

Brake Disc Wipers - when it's raining and the wipers are on the brakes are automatically applied to the discs at set intervals to clear any water film.  The result is increased brake efficiency in the wet.

Well blow me down......I drive North on the morning and South in the evening and the low sun through the side windows always gets me each time, the visor was always too short......well until now  :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

They can also be coded so that when you press and hold the lock button, as soon as they start to shut you can let go of the button and they'll carry on closing  :happy2:
