Radio Issues. . . . .
« on: October 27, 2014, 09:17:24 pm »
Hi there to all,
Thanks for letting me register. I have just bought a 2006 Mk5 Golf Gti, i always wanted one, its a black 5 door manual with full leather and winter pack with the Monza 18" alloys. I do a lot of travelling for many hours at a time for work and my golf seems to have a problem that hopefully someone knows is a simple fix?
After 1 hour and 3 minutes the radio/cd switches completely off. This is not related to a bump or anything except the time. I have to switch it back on, this is getting irritating does anyone have any ideas? The car is completely standard and has the original stereo.
Incidentally I am averaging 40mpg sat on long motorway journeys, im assuming this is very good!!
Many thanks in advance!
Ross

I'm afraid this is only part of the answer...

You can turn your radio on with no key in the ignition, but to save the battery, it will turn itself off after about an hour.  So, I suspect that your radio hasn't got the ignition feed connected somewhere.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.
