Hi all, I bought a 2007 1.6 fsi golf a few months back and have noticed an odd sound. It's a faint ticking sound that follows the tempo of the revs and is intermittent, can't seem to distinguish a pattern as to when it occurs. Will do it when hot and cold, sometimes from start-up, other times after driving for an hour. It's most noticeable at idle but if I hold the revs at around 1500rpm the noise goes away (only to reappear as soon as the revs drop again).
I know these engines are prone to being quite noisy but this doesn't sound mechanical, it almost sounds like plastic vibrating against something!
