Centre armrest sliding backwards...
« on: October 28, 2014, 03:31:34 pm »
Hi all,

I have the leather centre armrest, but no matter where I try to lock it, as soon as I rest my elbow on it, it starts sliding backwards - is this normal? If not, does anyone know if I can fix it without buying a whole new armrest?

Cheers
How did she know?

Hmm thought that would happen one day with mine, seems a friction design that is bound to wear with use to me, not a good design really.
Not sure if you can tighten it up or squeeze something in to give it more friction, glue it in the position you mostly use
You could look into buying just the lid mechanism bit new, or a trip to the breakers?

Cheers Paul. Yeah thought about replacing it or tightening but just wondering if it was normal? If you're saying it's not then I'll take a proper look. I'd rather not spend induction kit money on an elbow rest!

sounds like the mechanism is damaged. i don't think its reparable. i can look at a replacement for you. could probably get one for £30. but like you said it depends how much it bothers you

Mine is similar, although it's still usable for now, sounds like yours is a bit more worn... I too would be interested to see if it can be fixed!

Thanks guys. I'll look in to the parts. It is really annoying, just when you're getting comfy the effing thing slides backwards! Ii feel like Delboy falling through the bar sometimes! f it's a cheaper than £50 fix I'll probably do it. If I do I'll let you know how I get on
