GTi service schedule
« on: October 27, 2014, 06:24:26 pm »
Evening all,
Can someone please tell me what is changed at what service interval starting from 50,000 miles on a 2007 VW Golf GTi (MK5).    The service book, I think is written in hebrew as I can't make head nor tail of it to work it out.

The so called specialist has messed me around and I am 10,000 out I think?

Cheers

Pages 10 and 11 in the book tells you what needs to be done at what interval, the oil says 20,000 miles but that's for long life only (which I wouldn't do)

For peace of mind, change the following;

Oil (5w-40 fully synthetic)
Oil filter
Air filter
Spark plugs
Fuel filter
Cabin filter

I would also, unless you have an invoice, also replace the brake fluid as this should be done every 3 years regardless of miles.

Thank you for the replies so far.  Today I have the 70,000 mile service done.

At 50K i had a full service at VW
Cambelt changed at specialist -  week later
60K oil service
70K oil service (should have been 60K)

apparently, my next service is an oil service again, which will be 80K (should of been at 70K).  Then the one ofter that, 90K is a big service.

So the specialist has messed up somewhat. Perhaps I should go back to main dealer?

I wouldn't use main dealer personally, perhaps find another specialist to carry out a full service. In my view, you'd be better to scout around the forum and see where local to you is recommended then take it to them and get them to give a major service to make sure any other errors done by the other garage get sorted before they cause issues.

I took my car to a garage who said they would use genuine parts, turned out they used pattern parts and didn't even fit the right ones for my engine!

Failing that, service it yourself. :)

If 60k was just an oil service then 70k should have been oil, air filter and maybe dust and pollen filter (cabin filter). But if 60k and 70k were oil I would say 80k should be oil, air filter, dust and pollen filter, brake fluid and maybe spark plugs. 90k will probably be oil and cambelt and water pump (but depending on time that might be OK for another year)

Just spotted on your profile you're in Bedfordshire? Easy mate just go to Alex at AKS Tuning, I drove 1h20m each way to have my service done there on Saturday and was a good move. The man knows these cars inside out.

+1 for AKS.

Also live in Bedford and Alex completed my DSG oil and filter change + minor service yesterday.  He's busy but his knowledge is worth paying for.

How much for the DSG service mate?

Paid £175 which regardless of price, Alex is the only person that I would trust.
