Random hunting noise
« on: October 28, 2014, 07:04:00 pm »
Every now and then, after been sat in traffic I seem to notice more. Once I put my foot down on the clutch to put into neutral. My rev note sounds like its hunting slightly. Then it levels out to normal. There isn't much idle needle movement. It almost sounds like the fuel pick up from the tank sloshes back and forth from stopping.

I bought a Revo PCV delete/blank and noticed it did it more aggressive. So I fitted my PCV again which is just under a year old. Still does it but not so aggressive.

I'm getting it booked in soon for a Terra Clean hoping that would clear it.

Any other ideas where I should be looking?

Nothing picks up on VCDs.

I've not got a "hunting noise" (more than the air flaps/vents clicking) but i do get a exhaust note change when i put my foot on the clutch.

Try turning off the aircon? as i've noticed mine kicks in a out quite hard. I've got my hopes pinned on a fuel and air terraclean for my miss fires....
There is no replacement for displacement....
But a turbo does help....

My Ed30 had a hunting noise once which after investigation was because I hadn't put the oil filler cap back on. This was an extreme case but just wondering if you had an air leak on the top of the engine if it would cause such problems - worth a thought?

I don't use the aircon, always on econ.
I've never had a misfire or any other issues.

I'll check the oil cap tomorrow but I'm sure its not that. I'll have a look for air leaks etc. The DV won't be the cause would it? being a Rev D...
