4 decent tyres for £300?!

Now then all,
She's just failed her MOT,  need tyres all round.
I don't get paid till 2 weeks and I've got a budget of £300 for tyres. Is it possible to get a set of fairly decent tyres for that price? Any recommendations?

£36 more but can't recommend these enough and with the weather turning soon you'll need the wet grip of these or the rainsports.

Wont go wrong with the uniroyal rainsports for good mid range tyres mate

Michelin pilot sport 3 were also on offer yesterday on camskill for £91 each but you get a £70 shell fuel voucher if you buy 4 making it around £75 each for in my oppinion the best all round tyres available!

Had the ps3's on most of my cars including a 320bhp mk1 focus Rs and were just brilliant

The Vredesteins are very very good in the wet.
The EU tyre test marking is a load of crap IMO. They had Eagle F1s with different load ratings (but in the same size) score A and B... same tyre!!!

My Golf I've always ran on Vredestein Sessantas and it's never not held on.
My Scirocco handily has Eagle F1 Assy 2 and overall I prefer the Sessanta. The Eagles are a good tyre, I'd say maybe 4-5% better in the dry, but the Vreds are noticeably better in the wet and are happier in the colder conditions. Due to the tread design they are also probably one of the best summer tyres for use over winter too.

That being said any of the tyres Dan linked would be far better than budgets and if you really struggle buy some partworns decent tyres from Ebay.... you can save a lot.

Had a look round and got some Vredestein Sessantas, got them from a site called jungle tyeee at £72 a pop!

Try Black circles as they do a plan and subject to credit approval, where you pay over 12 months if the order is more than £300. Might save you the worry of finding the initial cost. I used them and only cost £30 more over the year than buying them outright.

How's the FC like comparing vreds and GY f1s? The rating diff is quite huge being F to C. Im using vreds all around now and they're superb even in wet! Tread design looks super cool too..

Less than 1.6mm on all four, wahey.

I was going to buy the Vreds just recently but the AS2's were only a fiver more per tyre - there aren't many (any?) tests I can find which rate the vReds higher than the AS2's.
Either are more than fine though.

Just make sure you get a Y rated tyre.

I don't really pay any attention to that as tyres job IMO is to grip. That being said my Scirocco is a TDI and the Golf is a TFSI so very different.

Just put Vredesteins Sassanta's on my Jetta - had a variety of 18" tyres on inc Nankangs (last forever, but no grip!) Falkens (good when new & gradually get worse, then you get to the wear bars and they are amazing track tyres!) The Vredesteins are great. amazing grip in the wet, but quite noisy & you need to put a little more air in them than youre maybe use to!
