Does this apply to ed35 CDL or just S3/R ?

Could be why I think my 35 has more grunt than the 30, even though its heavier, and I just presumed they would be un-noticeable performance wise.

If you like doing out of the ordinary / mainstream mods then this sounds like a decent mod.
