CDL intake cam in a BYD engine
« on: November 04, 2014, 10:37:27 am »
Anyone done it?

The CDL makes loads more torque than the BYD due to this... could be a good upgrade if its not mega bucks.

Shouldn't be too difficult to do Rich - may be worth checking the associated parts are the same in ETKA so you know it "fits" in.

Guess you would just need the S3 / R specific Revo stage 2 map installed to get the benefits

I'd double check that Revo would put a map together for you, you can't just have the S3 map installed

You have to have 4 pump maps changed to account for the 5.4mm stroke of the cdl cam compared to the 5mm BYD stroke.

Would it be worth it in your opinion?

Does this apply to ed35 CDL or just S3/R ?

Could be why I think my 35 has more grunt than the 30, even though its heavier, and I just presumed they would be un-noticeable performance wise.

If you like doing out of the ordinary / mainstream mods then this sounds like a decent mod.

Any quotes from Alex on supply & fit?

Would Revo support you with a map?

Any idea of the cost of supply & fit?
The ecu will also need to be mapped to take account of the extra lift or duration.

Done a few inlet cam swaps. They are around £300 iirc. Labour to swap is 4 hours. Then you need a map to suit.  Can't just fit the cam and hope for loads more power.
