Card reader and charity donations
« on: November 08, 2014, 02:43:24 pm »
I'm not sure if anyone else has come across this but the last couple of times when at the garage paying for fuel, I put my card in and the first thing it does is ask me if I want to make a donation to charity. A bit like being at a restaurant and being ask if I would like to leave a tip via card payment.

Personally I think this is a bit naughty. There is nothing at the till telling you what they are contributing towards nor does it say anything on the terminal so who knows where the donation would go.

Anyone else experienced this and what are you views?

I agree, not suggesting which charity you're contributing towards isn't fair. We all should have the right to know who's getting our money, whether it's a charitable donation or prised from us unwillingly.
