Searching for my old mk2
« on: October 29, 2014, 05:35:00 pm »
Hey, it's a long shot, but if anyone in the Essex area happens to spot a 3 door Golf GTI in grey with a J registration ending in TNA, can you give me a shout?

Reason being is that it's my old Golf GTI which I recently learnt (via DVLA) is still taxed and tested so still alive. I would quite like to see her again and possibly buy her back to finish what I started over 5 years ago.

I miss my mk2 GTI... :sad1:

I don't know the whereabouts of your mk2 - but I also found out recently on the DVLA site that my old mk2 is alive and kicking ! I sold it back in 2001. Really miss it. Bought it from Gilders in Sheffield in 1991. Reg is H4!3 VDT.

https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax - Enter the reg here and it'll tell you. :happy2:

It also displays when both the current tax and MOT expire, handy to keep tabs of your own dates if, like me, you move about a lot and don't have your documents to hand all the time.

Sad times my friend. I'm hoping to find mine in December, as I know where it went to after me because I stalked if for a short time... Hoping it's still there.

I miss my mk2 - sold it when the insurance went through the roof in the early 90s - great car - all my mates ended up selling their xr2i, gt turbos ect for gtis after they had a drive - happy pre speed camera days!  Used to drive at 120 mph up the A2 to work every day - never got a point
