I have xenon lights from factory and after reading that the bulbs will last less having coming/leaving home function active I turned off that feature. I also have my light switch in Off position, instead of Auto, to avoid the lights turning on when passing through some shadow or short tunnel.

New bulbs aren't cheap and I'll do what I can to prolong their life. I have other mods in mind where to spend my money.

So it's the bulbs and not the ballasts that will wear quickly?

This was my thought too - do you just switch to Auto when it's dark (to avoid them coming on for Auto, off for Sidelights and immediately back on for Dipped Beams)?

EDIT: reading online, yes, it's the bulbs that wear out.

When I need the lights turned on it's usually dark enough for the Auto function to activate them. Just rarely I do need to turn them on selecting the dipped beam position.

Great work on getting the xenons for that money, ive been looking around but people seem to want silly money for genuine sets these days. Maybe I need to start searching the scrap yards

Did you change your DV yourself? My PCV valve has been done but thinking about changing the DV as a precaution

A relative owns a garage and he did it for me, but from what I heard, it's a simple enough job.
Nothing can really go wrong if your DV is faulty, it's just you'll lose that lovely boost...

Looking good mate, as said on RMS, I'd gladly meet up if you want to arrange a mini meet for over here. 

Get something sorted closer to the end of Spring/start of Summer. I'll hold you to it.

Satnav display was no different as far as I could tell. Just updated the maps is all!

Small update but something I've been looking forward to since I first got the car - Pescaras.

Guy from a local car forum here in Northern Ireland was buying an Ed30 from England and brought the car back only to instantly upgrade to a set of 19"s. As I had been chatting to him he offered me the Pescaras, which I instantly said yes to!

Picked these up with tyres (albeit rather budget tyres, but no biggy) for a very reasonable price. They've recently had a full refurbishment before he bought the car and the finish is perfect. They're now silver after the refurbish but I'm hoping they'll go well with the steel grey of the GTI. The center caps will be replaced tomorrow 









Going to get my ed30 bumpers painted and fitted along with some mk6 parking sensors which are also waiting to be fitted.

Last thing to buy will be the RNS 510. End of summer for that hopefully!

To say I'm buzzing is an understatement. Can't wait to fit them.

How did you get on with the front splitter?it may be the same one I bought off eBay..mine came shipped from Poland and is an ABS one too

Body work stilllll hasn't had a lookin yet...

Instead - I picked up a nice RNS 510 version R (I've no idea if the SSD makes a big difference as I've never used a HDD version).





All coded and working well with my MFSW. Changed the CAN Gateway to a version N as well - nasty little bitch to get to with my big hands but needed to be done else battery drain overnight...

From the same seller, I managed to get the FISCON basic plus installed as well - full phone capabilities now as well as sending music via bluetooth :D





Finally, a small addition, given for free from the seller - a chromed Mk6 headlight switch - didn't think it'd look so good, but I was wrong. It looks awesome.

Next plans are to get the bodywork done (I hope!).
