Bootlid removal/ replacement
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:19:29 pm »
So I bought a new bootlid for my GTI and was talking to my brother about it and he asked if there was any difference between the boot of the 3 door and the 5 door.

So what I want to know is if I bought a door from a 5 door will it fit my 3 door golf? And does it matter if it's a gti boot or not?

EDIT

So I bought a new bootlid. But can't find a thread or guide anywhere that shows how to remove the bootlid?

Does anyone have a guide or can they shed some light on to what it involves and what I need to do it?

Also does it involve removing the headlining?

Hi @Kevin37

Your thread would better attract people who can answer your question if you label it something like "5dr boot lid fit 3dr?" Or something similar. . .  :happy2:

That's good to hear! That means this one will fit on mine then.

Thanks!

Just 4 bolts on the top and then the wiring needs to removed.

Thanks. Managed to figure it out from a few different threads and some trial and error.
