iv just got some new alloys and the offset is 37 when is should be 42 will this cause me problems please help

Standard offset is 51 with a 7.5J wide alloy.

a 37 offset at 8J will stick out just over 20mm more than stock.

Is your car lowered?  If not you may JUST get away with it. If you are lowered then I would almost definitely say you will rub....quite badly!!

Bear in mind that I have 8 x 18" alloys with ET42 on standard suspension and they rub on the front over big bumps (the screw in the arch liner) so I imagine any lower offset will rub badly over bumps even on standard suspension. It looks like there's very little clearance at the back on mine too but haven't had it rub yet. I fear once it's lowered, mine will rub there too :(

As everyone is saying: The further away from oem the ET value is, the more you have to consider how lowered the car is if you want to avoid rubbing. Another factor is how stiff the suspension is and so how much it needs to travel.

There's a cool expression but I think it applies more to show cars : -



Doing everything to avoid damaging your tyres is a no-brainer imo.

You're more than likely going to need some longer bolts too, as I doubt the old ones will work!
