ABS/ESP/Tyre pressure Amber warning lights
« on: November 14, 2014, 06:29:44 pm »
Evening All, I haven't been on here for mths, been busy with my other passion, golf, lol!!
Right, as per header, got those 3 warning lights twice in past month, I turn the engine off, turn back on, and only the ABS light stays on! This light then goes off as i drive away! Everything else is fine, no loss in power, etc! Anyone ever had this problem?? Btw my car is a 2005 Mk V GTi, owned since new and very cherished/maintained by Statllers and R Tech!!
Many thanks in advance
Andrew

usually one of two thigs, either an abs sensor or the abs ring on the wheel bearing best to get the fault codes checked to narrow it down

Cheers, back at Statllers next Friday to get checked out! So are you suggesting that I may not need to have the whole ABS system replaced?? Would be my worst nightmare bearing in mind how much I have spent on my car over the years, a lot through choice I hasten to add!!!   :confused:

Many thanks
Andrew

from my experience with my car ive had to have two sensors replaced and one wheel bearing, all at different times to cure the same symptoms so you may be lucky but the golfs are quite bad for abs pump failure but im sure a repair kit can be bought for this rather than a replacement which would be costly

You name it I've had it replaced, steering rack, wheel bearings, I could go on and on!! Hoping this is a cheap fix, what with Xmas coming!!?? That said, no other symptoms!!!

@gigolo456
can't reply to your PM because your inbox is full!

To answer your PM, my ABS sensor was what was at fault. ABS, traction control and tyre pressure system are all interlinked so a simple fault eg ABS sensor can set off all three warning lights. You need to get the car checked out and hope it's not the ABS pump.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

And sure enough, as usual, Statllers sorted it. The ABS Speed sensor (think that's what it's called) was knackered, and plenty of corrosion around the damaged area! It certainly wasn't an easy area to get to, i saw that with my own 2 eyes, but their perseverence paid off in the end!!! Steve did say that there is a chance that the warning lights may come on again, and it might need a new wheel bearing in time, but at least then, things around there will be easier to get to now so-to-speak!!
