I'm not sure if it's different but the flywheel on the TFSI is a 6 bolt and the TSI is an 8 bolt I believe. Think all the TSI's had the 7 speed box, not sure if it's different.
Alex would know if anyone would...

I guess all that matters is what the diameter of the gearbox. I know that twincharged have different gearboxes so it might be an easy swap (6 speed vs 7 speed).
I am not a big fan of DSG's because they will not hold the RPM's, unless they are have different software. And as far as I know there aren't any companies that can recode the 7 speed dry clutch DSG gearbox, but there are a lot of companies that can recode the 6 speed ones.
Torque won't be a problem for you engine with either gearboxes.

I am really curious to see if you manage to pull it of. Best of luck!

Think trying to fit a 6 speed will be more hassle than 7speed. Not too bothered about holding high rpm as Im not thrashing it or racing much at all. And will need a custom file as the stock vag files for CAXA are with 7 speed not 6 as you know they only came with 7 speed. Im quite a chilled out driver with bits of spirited driving so I think stock setup hardware and software will do me. After all its a 1.4TFSI not a 2.0 fire spitter! :P

Really hope I pull it off too. keep your fingered crossed!!

Nope. Flywheels for my engine are 6 bolt.

And turbo only 1.4TSI 122 only came with 7 speed DSG. Only twincharged 160 tsi and 140 twincharge in mk5s came with a 6speed DSG.

Nice!

Good luck with the DSG Conversion. I agree with the others that 6 would be better but I guess if its a brand new 7 you should be fine. Looking forward to seeing the results!
