No updates really - Bought a new battery : Varta E44 for the car while Iv been twiddling my thumbs waiting..

Its been 5 working days my mechatronics has been at ECUtesting and no word.. they said they would call when they have news when I phoned on wednesday.

They say their turnaround is 3-5 working days so thats now come and gone.. must be unusually busy ?!

Anyone used ECUtesting before?

Hopefully yeah.

Everywhere I looked there was nothing but excellent feedback about them and very appreciative customers for excellent comms, fast service, workmanship and lifetime guarantees.

Can only think they are exceptionally busy  :indifferent:

Look at AKS Tuning and R-Tech... Great reviews, long waiting times to book in. It's always the way with good places sadly but it's a good sign if the place is booked up and rammed with work, as a quiet place would make me think no-one wants to use that garage.

So true! Opportunity to take a break from worrying about gearbox.

My other parts of the to do list still include:

- Dynaudio install with Bose wheel well sub (inside full size spare)
- Full size spare wheel upgrade
- Auto dimming wing mirror glass
- painting radio/climate dashboard trims in reflex silver

Been honing my painting skills on some bumper trims from my old mk5 (now my sister's) and cant tell difference from a bodyshop job! Iv perfected my prep and paint process. Not bad for rattle cans  :happy2:

Also painted my dsg surround gloss black and got a nice finish too

Update: News is not good. The mechatronics unit has been deemed beyond repair. They tested the pump upto and beyond the voltage and they could not get any movement so they said it cannot be repaired. So seems Im staring down the barrel of a new mechatronics. Will be about £1k from dealers after discount but ill need to check this.

If they couldnt get pumps to turn i guess thats why the actuators were not engaging or disengaging.

F**k!!!!

Surely you can get the original supplier to sort out some of the cost at least, you bought an "as new" part which I'm sure must come with the legal warranty or something similar? A polite, but firm, letter might net some help at least.

Complete gearbox with mecha and clutch was 700. Was offered 300 part refund and keep the box or full refund for return.

I hedged my bets on mecha being repairable and had taken the 300 part refund already so think theres no going back. I may get some money back as an exchange if i buy from vw or sell it as faulty/spares.

Not much to update. Got a call from BBA Reman and they didnt have the right equipment to test the mechatronics so they performed a visual inspection and said everything looks fine ( what a lot of use that was  :fighting: )

So Iv given up on anyone being able to repair it. Iv bought some kit to read and write DSG programming and Iv managed to read all the mechatronic data from my faulty unit ( took about 25mins.. what a lot of data!). So Iv ordered a refurbed unit with a brand new Transmission ECU and a preowned and tested valvebody. Hoping my kit will write the data on my new unit, fill up the fluids, fit and test and hopefully Ill have some joy. Comes with 3 month guarantee so if it doesn't work or craps out in that time Iv got full comeback.

Keep your fingers crossed - there may still be some hope yet!!!!!  :happy2: :scared:

Are these people no good to you?
http://www.ecutesting.com/vw_and_audi_dsg_gearbox_ecu.html

First place I went was them (see few posts up) . Faulty beyond repair...  :fighting: , Thanks though

Thought it was worth getting a 2nd opinion but BBA couldn't test it so am stuck having to believe ECU testing. Don't think there are any other places who can assess and repair these so unless anyone has any other bright ideas Ill have to scrap the original mecha and hope the refurbed one is up to the job.

Hopefully the refurbished unit will be fine and you'll finally get the joy of DSG. I've been driving my DSG equipped Golf for about a month now and it's such a joy to use!

Thankyou :) . Im yearning to enjoy mine too. Its been ages iv been without and been demoted to my old mk5 my sister uses now and again. 80bhp is fine for her as she passed her test recently but I lose the will in that.

Even been tempted by a tasty SLK350 local to me but iv resisted!!

Glad your loving your DSG golf. I was having fun even in just 2nd and Reverse haha. Pity i need more gears to enjoy it more :P
