Sorry to hear this! Like others, this is the sort of think I dread leaving the car in public car parks.
Personally I wouldn't touch it up. I'd go for a SMART repair. Probably cost £80-£120 max. Father in law had a similar scrape on the rear corner of his red Ed30. Local Chips away guy based in a small unit did a very good job and you can't tell the difference even 18 months on (and he & I are fussy!)

This is why I always park away from the stroes and take up two spaces

Really sorry to hear this - My heart sunk when I read your thread title but fortunately it's not too bad. If it's a black plastic part it's straight forward to get repaired. I ran around with a very deep gouge in my roof spoiler from an up-and-over door for over a year - It won't rust.

Always park well away from the usual parking bays if you can - It reduces the risk.

Once it's repaired you'll feel a lot better about it, Phil.

feel for you mate, if you were up north i could get that done propperly for £180 to £200

try a decent bodyshop there not all as dear as you think

Cheers Everyone. Gonna go visit Vrstu's recomendation today. See what they quote and weigh up whether to do that or wait and do full front including bonnet/front valance to cure stone chips problem in the new year

maybe find a positive, when it comes to getting the red paint out at repair time maybe get some colour coding done? interior trim? engine bay plastics etc etc

I Know that exact feeling you have at the moment Steve, as some t**t scratched my drivers side door a few weeks back. :sad1:

Took mine to the local paintshop and whilst I was there I took the chance to get the door, wing and front splitter all re-sprayed. Cost £375 and that included taking off the splitter and both door skins, so I reckon you should be under £200 for a touch up for the bumper. :smiley:

I always park in the section of the Tesco car park thats supposed to be for people with children. You are supposed to have a 'Blue Badge' to park in those spaces, as they are like disabled spaces - much wider then usual.
I just take my daughters car seat out of the boot and put it in the back before I go in  :wink: lol

Anywhere else and I tend to park a little away from other cars, in a wider space, or take up 2 spaces.

Re sorting it depends how deep the scratch is? If its not all the way through the paint try a medium polish on a proper polish pad like a sonus if you havent a rotary. Go careful though!

Another thing to try and it sounds daft so bare with me!

Clean the area first, use your touch up stick and poor a little paint into a piece of folded kitchen roll/paper then apply to the area.

Dont go mad and spread it everywhere just in and over the gouch/scratch area. Leave to just about dry then carefully polish off the area again.

Do this several times until the paint has built up, then leave for a week or so and go over again with a cutting polish, carefully!!

Sounds daft but worked for me several times on scratches etc when unable to use a porta etc.

I feel for you, but sure it can be sorted properly.  If you park up the other end of the car park with no cars in sight  you're bound to have someone's banger parked right next to you when you return! 'A' holes!  :wink:

sorry to hear about that stevee

youll need to wet and dry flat the paint if you try and do that, then have a rotary polisher on hand. not something id recommend if you havent done it before
