Front left deipped beam not working
« on: November 08, 2014, 06:13:08 pm »
I am getting the message, "Front left dipped beam not working."

Most times both beams turn on at first.

The left one will go out randomly, more noticeably when hitting a bump.

Sometimes it will be the right beam.

If the parking brake is lifted both lights will turn off as usual, and after releasing both beams will generally turn on again.

The shop who did the PPI said all diagnostics passed, when in fact there was an error code that said something relative to a loose ground...   :congrats:

I figured I would switch the front/right bulbs and replace the fuse. Other than that I am a bit lost.

Any ideas?

Update:

There were a couple recalls that needed to be done, so vw diagnosed the dipped beam error. Said the filaments in both bulbs were bad and need to be replaced... for $550  :stupid:

Will update with final results after I replace the bulbs.

Cheers

If the ground conenction is not good, then it doesn't what you do with the bulb or switches. Fix the ground connection first, see if it solves your problem.
