guide to refurbing monza gti alloys
« on: November 04, 2014, 08:49:07 am »
Bought a 55 plate gt tdi last week with gti monza wheels, the wheels are in very good condition however they have been painted silver...

I really want to polish them up like they are standard, does anyone have a guide on how this can be done? Thanks

you'll struggle by hand...basically need to get it back to bare metal.
just have them diamond cut and relacquered but they will inevitably go back to all powdery after some time.

I think I was quoted circa £320 for 4 wheels, by Diamonds of Swindon the other week. Could be less elsewhere but these guys are good
How did she know?

All in for less than £200

Less up keep and look decent. If you get a good powdercoater to do it.

What's the warranty on them out of interest? Guy I used for mine just refuses to do diamond cut altogether. I think Prestige is something silly like 3 months.

Diamond cut alloys look ace until they start to go wrong, we don't really have the weather or decent road surfaces in the UK to
have Diamond cut / Chrome alloys.

Like others have suggested, why don't you get a high chrome glossy paint. Would last longer  :happy2:
