if  your EPC and engine management light are on possible your traction control is not working - therefore instead of it controlling the wheelspin by limiting the power you are getting full power. That added to the budget spec tyres is resulting in the wheelsping.

Firstly I would get the warning lights looked at to find what is making the warning lights appear.

Secondly i would bin the budget tyres and get some decent spec goodyears F1's , michelins or pirellis Pzeros on. If your budget wont stretch to either of them then have a look at Hankook Evo V12's - We have them on our A4 Avant S-Line (they came with the car) and i must say they are quite impressive for the money.

vw just rang me, it needs an update and they will do that as part of the diagnostic which is preety good cuz apparently that can cost upto 100 quid, apart from that the tyres are abit worn LOL hence the wheelspin....but im bloody glad its sorted, going to pick it up now, RELIEVED to say the least!

no idea, dont really care now! lol they gave it the once over, said it simply needed an update so thats  fine with me! tyres need replacing at the front but apart from that the car has been given a clean bill of health, im putting it on warranty direct asap too so should be fine from here on out ! :)

Mines lighting up the fronts quite often from standing starts these (not even remapped).

Lower ambient temps this time of year can also result in a tad extra torque

Animal is bang on here. You'd be surprised how much extra torque you can achieve with the "colder air" of the winter months. People with induction kits may also hear the turbo spooling more on colder mornings.

Outside temps will also play a big factor in how much work is required to put heat in the tyres, then add some water in the equation and it can take a fair few miles till you reach reasnoble tyre temps.
