R-Tech stage 1 last week
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:35:34 pm »
Hello

After much research I took my car to R-Tech last week for a stage 1 remap.

The guys down there know their stuff and Niki identified that my car was suffering with a problem with flow..... Post remap 287bhp  which I'm over the moon with but he reckons that was lower than he was expecting ....

Anyway, time for a schoolboy confession - I filled my car with diesel and drove 4 miles.....(it went to VW main dealer for fuel line drain, new filters etc)

Question- do you think the cat or pre cat might be blocked with diesel particles??

Niki was kind enough to give me a exhaust (the middle bit) and it's had the pre cat removed- he suggested fitting it and see if it helps

I'm delighted with 287bhp but can't help wonder what damage my schoolboy error has caused.

Any advice welcome

I saw this on Niki's Facebook too!

Blocked cat sounds plausible so get the FREE downpipe fitted and see if it's quicker  :happy2:

May be worth checking your air filter as if it hasn't been changed recently it will hold back the power a little bit. Maybe treat your car to an updated Pipercross Panel filter (£35 on eBay)

I sure will get the exhaust fitted...is this a simple DIY job or more specialist?

As for air filter, was planning that too, especially the relatively low cost

Exhaust is only 4 bolts and a clamp. Any decent reputable garage can swap it over, ask them to remove the pre-cat from the exhaust Niki gave you as that will free up at least another 5bhp

Also seen this on Nicks page
I would try the exhaust and also change the fuel filter as well

I'll get a local garage to fit the exhaust.....forum suggest new gasket and 4 new bolts too

The fuel filter was changed by the dealer when the fixed it following my error

I thought I would simple get my car remapped, turns out this is addictive.......I'm going to get a panel filter, pipercross seems popular..and advice welcome

Also think I might change the Diverter valve, Nick said mine was original and looked ok, but reading on these forums it seems wise to upgrade

Thanks for the advise
