Yeah I've heard the R888's can be a bit lethal in the wet, good to know the Federals can hold up well in sh*t weather, could be useful since we love in sunny England  :booty:

The 595 are good for the money and so are the nankangs but the 888 was in another league for me easily ome of the best thing i done i consider the 595 and and nankang as a summer tyre more then a trackday allthough there good enough for most as an all rounder

but with the R888 you get LOTS OF ROAD NOISE, less wet grip and a greater wear rate.  Bearing in mind were not racing drivers and 99% of the cars use is road work, id say the extra grip and cost above that of the 595RSR is just not worth it.

I was blown away by the grip of the RSR in very wet conditions on track.  I was happily following the rear bumper of a Focus RS MP350 running the Sport Conti 5 tyres in my car which had "worn" RSR tyres fitted at a cold Mallory Park Trackday in what was pretty much torrential rain.  There is no way i would have been as quick with R888s on.  Same goes at Silverstone, i was lapping silverstone on a hot trackday pretty hard with the RSRs and they never failed to impress, didnt go off and hardly wore.  Id wager the R888s wouldnt have lasted any where near as long, nor made my day any more enjoyable.

For me, the RSR is the best all round tyre when you consider not only dry grip, but wet grip, wear rate and cost.

Anyone try the  Nankang NS-2R?  Apparently a direct competitor to the RSR!

Yes ofcourse there not really a road tyre or wet tyre but can be used in both if need be, those are the prices you pay for maximum dry grip

What cold pressures are people starting with on the Federals?

Cheers
