08 ED30 Value please?.
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:09:00 pm »
Tempted by a Golf R. Not shure if to px or sell private?. Should be worth a bit more on a private sale. Car is on an 08 plate,3 door & only 36,000 miles on the clock. Factory tints on the rear windows,Pioneer sat nav with hands free & dvd in motion etc. Showroom condition & only a couple of tiny marks on x2 of the alloys, which have conti sport tyres fitted. Manual gear box & paint is solid black. I would think at least high £10,000 due to the low miles & showroom condition?. Thoughts please.
ED35. Standard factory condition.

Paid £11,500 for mine.

08 Reg, Candy White, 3 Door, Manual. Factory rear tinted windows etc etc. Not too many upgrades inside from factory and 66k on the clock.

Bought it in August this year. Guess its just seeing what they're currently going for on the market now and then comparing/matching prices?

Sold my 23000 mile 2007 silver 5 door Ed30 in April for £10k , it needed tax service mot and 2 tyres , so it was £10500 ish .

Would suggest that due to time of year i wouldn't sell  . P/Ex will be poor too . Wait till March , will still get same money for it then as you will now . I would want £10500 for it if it was mine .

Also what extra do you get for the £10k extra you are going to pay ?

Drive it, apart from having the ability to launch better, I'd keep the Ed30,
The 6R is a completely different to what you may think..Unless your planning to modify it, then the 6R makes sense, but side by side , stock V Stock, the eddy is more fun to drive and more the feeling of driver involvement.
I thought long and hard about it, but I don't have a barrow load of money to do the same to an R over my Eddy again.. I'm guessing I'm just getting older  :signLOL:

Your price of around 10k selling privately would be about right, but as a trade in, don't expect more then around 8k against an R.

Thanks for the advice chaps . The one i was going to look at has had a deposit placed on it so i'm on hold for now. Saint Steve, some very good advice mate thanks & ''yes'' stilll yet to drive one, but the one i was looking at was stunning in the rising blue paint (think thats what its called) sat nav,sun roof, factory tints etc.

I have driven both cars , the ED30 is never £10k less of a car . If the R didn't have the exhausts in the middle i may have got one due to needing a towbar and not wanting to put one on the ED30 (They make a hidden one for the MK6 , but not the R due to exhaust)
I think the R is overpriced , Markymarks is in the for sale section its £19500 and thats mad imho for a four year old car . I think in a couple of years there will be plenty of MK7 R's about and especially after 3 years (All the Lease deal ones)
I would perhaps keep the ED30 for another 3 years and get the MK7 .
I will be seriously looking at a MK7 too , but will that also have retained alot of its value like the MK6 ?

RG, I drove a mark 7 performance pack last week, fully expecting to cash in some Isa's.

Very much to my surprise, I won't be doing that after all, I wasn't keen at all.

R will do ok for a bit, until the mk7 lease deals finish but it's the Ed35 I feel is the expensive one in the range at R money.
