You probably don't need the MFA stalk then, if you can scroll the menu's via the OK button then the stalk is redundant
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Ive fitted newer style buttons to an older speedo (970). Everything works fine. We had to go through a few of the options on VCDS however no dramas really. Now both my stalk and steering wheel control the highlime speedo however I have to use the steering wheel menu buttons to switch between audio/mfd/vehicle settings. The stalks allows controls in whichever menu is on. Some say pressing and holding up on the stalk switches between menus but I haven't tried that yet. I will find out and let you know here.
alot of folks say newer buttons wont work with a older speedo but from what I have seen that is not true.
FYI  I upgraded from a midline gti with no MFSW. I also had to upgrade the steering module as it was a midline spec.

Don't suppose at some point you can have a look on VCDS and post up what you coded?

I think I've done everything but don't think I can switch audio/mfd/vehicle settings.

970 Highline with a newer style MFSW (ok on right).

@reaper7881  fitted and coded mine. There was a bit of box ticking in the different bytes to make sure the buttons worked but it wasn't any hassle. If I see him soon I will take pics of what options have been ticked etc.
Ive got the same set of buttons. Star on the right and ok on the left.

@usmangti If this can work, it would solve a lot of hassle with people trying to self code early clusters.

Yes well i have installed the high-end cluster, done all the basic settings but i don't manage to get the menu button on the mfsw to work. I have tried every coding there is on the steering wheel. Should I buy a stalk and sell my wheel?

Whats the part number of the highline cluster? If you dont have a wiper stalk with the rocker buttons, chances are you have a lowline steering wheel control module. You would need a midline module to use the wiper stalk rocker button or a Highline control module to use the buttons on the steering wheel

I have a high end steering module, a new type mfsw, cruise control and, of course, a 2004 cluster full display. I haven't bought a stalk yet hopping the buttons on the mfsw would work.

you would probably need a newer highline display ending in 973 or 974.  although others have managed to use older clocks with mfsw. not sure how.

Could someone with both mfsw and high line cluster tell me the codding on the steering? Maybe i got it wrong ....
Someone told me to update soft version on my clusters. This is what i have:
Address 17: Instruments        Labels: 1K0-920-xxx-17.lbl
   Part No: 1K0 920 971 A
   Component: KOMBIINSTRUMENT VDD 0812
   Coding: 0007103
   Shop #: WSC 00445 067 57207
   VCID: 29591B2F800CF950575

and i need to change it to SW4312

Can i do this by myself or do i need to go to a VW service?

Hi All,

I have a 2007 DSG Jetta 2.0 TFSI, with midline clocks, stalk buttons and cruise control.
I'm looking to upgrade to GTI Highlines, and also install a GTI MSFW with paddles.

What clocks do I need to buy? And also is there anything else I need to get? Will I need the highline control module aswell to use the MFSW buttons?

Thanks, Ben.

Hey Ben,

You can buy any highline cluster, but for the menu button to work you will need one with part number ending in 972,9873 or 974.

Alex Retro (Olsen-72) can supply and fit them for you

In regards to MFSW, yes you will need a Highline one. Follow this youtube video.
