Battery issue

Last weekend I got the chrome switch kit and fitted them all except the fuel filler switch because I didnt to have time and I have just fitted it now, it works and so do all the windows and the headlights. The only slight problem is that now my car won't start, or even tick over it just flashes all it's lights and makes a strange noise as if it's trying to tick over.
 
Could something behind the door panel cause such a big problem?

I ve been sat in the car with radio on for 10 mins waiting to try again and just before changing the switch id been out in it so was driving and starting fine then?

Is it turning over? Or is it just making a ticking sound when you try to start it? If it's the latter then try starting it with a jump. Sounds like your battery is goosed or perhaps something is draining it.

Lights and radio draw little power compared to the starter motor. If you've had lights and radio on while working it may of drained the battery enough that it can't drive the starter motor.

Also, check that the starter motor isn't burnt out, as this can happen too.

Going to try jump it now see if that works

That worked but it's made me more worried about a battery drain issue somewhere, it took about 40 mins to change the switch, only had the radio after it was changed and I'd turned the ignition on to check the switch was working put the door card back on and then it wouldn't start, should I change the battery as a precaution or wait see how it is?

Halfords can check for free if your battery is goosed or not. If it's the original battery then chances are it could be on its way out since it will be a fair few years old now.

Take it for a drive, charge it up, then leave it over night and see how it is in the morning. If there's any problems, get it checked for free and go from there.

One bit of advice, if your battery is struggling, rip it out, check the water levels (make sure you use deionised water) and give it a long trickle charge to recondition it. Saved a few batteries in my time doing that.
