Buying a German Import

So I saw an Edition 30 earlier and enquired with the dealer - it has ALL factory options apart from a sunroof.

The car is right hand drive - dealer just confirmed that it was bought in Germany as a UK spec car. So xenons point the correct direction.

Is the fact that it is a German import going to be an issue? I'd say it was imported in 2007 when the 07 plate was being given out. The 1 owner from new part would suggest 1 UK owner from new, so wouldn't know about previous owners in Germany, but from what it sounds like there are none.

It's cheap, but it is approaching the 100k mileage mark. Just want to know if there are any implications for this aside from resale price?

Check with your insurance company, they may want a say in the payout value if you have a claim eg value it considerably less than you've paid for it!

I only found out my car was  imported from Cyprus when I came to trade it in. Only noticed it had limassol stamped in the front of the service history book with a lookers Blackburn stamp over the top!

Mines a German import, no issues with insurance at all.
Only slight issue is mine didn't pop up when you put the red in.

"Don't buy cars that are cheap" should be everyones ethos - It really is self explanatory

Car should be fine. You do need to declare to insurance that it's a import as this is "material fact". If you don't you may not be covered.
Some insurance won't quote for imports it mods.

Try buying a Golf that isn't an Import - I don't think they make any in the UK :evilgrin:
